Most of the money we get via the tuition is transferred directly, or indirectly, back to the students.
The money is used, among other things, to support the following organizations, activities and events:

A total of MNOK 6.86 in tuition was collected in 2009. The illustration above shows how MNOK 5.14 out of the total MNOK 6.86 was distributed.
The remaining MNOK 1.72 goes to the administration and to funding of SIA’s cultural branch (Kultopia, Start of Term-festival and other cultural initiatives).Østsia, Pir 6 and Luftslottet are not funded by the tuition.
Explanation to segments in the illustration above:
- Funding of NSA and student council:
Included in the tuition is funds to the National Student Association (NSA), because all students at UIA are members of NSA. SIA pays NSA NOK 50 per student per term. The other colleges in the South of Norway are not members of NSA, and there SIA transfers NOK 50 per student per term back to the student council or an equivalent institution.
- Salary funding STA
SIA partly finances one organizational consultant in the Student Organization.
- Part of salary for student priest
SIA pays 25% of the student priest’s wages.
- SIA-Health
Consists of the cost of a health care fund, an arrangement for reimbursement of medical bills, psychologists services and legal aid, as well as salary and cost of operation within SIA-Health.
- Sponsor arrangement/International office
SiA supports the international office at UIA. This amounted to NOK 30,000 in 2009.
- Leasing of venues for student activities
Mainly leasing hours in Grimstad Hall for the Students of Grimstad Athletics Team.
- Funding of social activities for students
Each year SiA gives Velferdstinget a set amount of funds to be distributed to different student activities. The different student activities must apply for funding of operation and investments before any funds are distributed.
- Start of term and Kultopia
SiA supports the Start of Term-festival with NOK 500,000 every year and Kultopia with NOK 900,000 every other year (NOK 450,000 per year).
